Message to  PAL\PALex Passengers: November 16, 2013


To our Valued Passengers:

Your airline is seeking your kind understanding amidst delays you may have experienced in your flights lately.

The devastation in the Visayas region - Tacloban City in particular, has necessitated the need for additional frequencies to and from the city via Cebu. Government initially halted commercial operations to Tacloban due to the damage incurred by the facility brought about by super typhoon Yolanda.

In a bid to help reduce the huge backlog of passengers wanting to fly out of Tacloban, your airline, worked in close consultation with governemnt, through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and was granted permission to implement a partial resumption of commercial operations via Cebu, then eventually, via Manila.

Six (6) PAL/PALex flight frequencies to and from Tacloban via Cebu have been mounted since Monday (November 11, 2013). 

PAL was also allowed to partially restore direct flights to Tacloban from Manila and vice versa to accommodate more relief goods/equipment as well as members of rescue, relief and medical missions from both government and NGOs. 

Prior to Yolanda’s wrath on the Visayas, your airline flew thrice daily from Manila to Tacloban and operated a daily flight between Cebu and Tacloban.

The revised flight schedule have led to adjustments in the timelines of other domestic flights resulting in inevitable delays. 

In addition to the utilization of more aircraft and resources for these flights, many of our ground and flight crew and their families have also been affected by the typhoon. As such, we have had to make do with limited staff on the ground.

We are however determined to extend as much assistance as we can to our countrymen in these affected areas, even as we continue to provide you the best service possible.
